Jeff retired as Chief of Police from the Irving Police Department in 2022 after a 35-year career in policing, the last five he served as the chief of police. Upon his retirement he spent 3 years as a Senior Fellow with the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and the Executive Director of the Caruth Police Institute at the University of North Texas at Dallas. He has since taken the role of VP of Business Development for SWORN, an artificial intelligence company which supports public safety, health and wellness, while continuing to work as a Senior Fellow with the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and Associate Vice President for Clear Career Professionals providing services related to executive searches and organizational reviews.
He holds a master’s degree in criminal justice leadership from Sam Houston State University. He is a graduate of the 252nd Session of the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police, and the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College. He currently serves as the Chair for the Officer Safety and Wellness Section for the IACP.
