Del brings over 40 years of public safety leadership, with extensive experience in fire department operations, emergency management, and organizational development. A decorated fire service executive, Del has served as Fire Chief in two Texas cities and held senior leadership positions within statewide emergency response systems. His command-level experience and expertise in departmental planning, tactical readiness, and personnel management make him a respected authority in the Texas fire service community.
Del most recently served as Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Murphy, Texas, where he developed and executed the department’s strategic plan, established tactical teams for active shooter response, and coordinated emergency operations across multiple jurisdictions. He previously led the City of Brownwood’s fire and emergency management functions, improving the community’s ISO rating, implementing EMS programs, and guiding the city through successful labor negotiations with fire personnel.
A recognized mentor and peer leader in the Texas fire service, Del is frequently called upon by municipal leaders to assist in identifying, evaluating, and developing top fire executive talent. His decades of frontline and executive experience give him unique insight into what makes an effective fire chief; and how to match leadership to the unique culture and needs of a community.
He has served on the Executive Board of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association and represents the organization on the TIFMAS Steering Committee, contributing to regional resource coordination and policy guidance. As a long-standing member of the State of Texas Type 3 Incident Management Team, Del has directed responses to large-scale incidents and disasters statewide. His background combines operational depth with strategic insight, making him a valuable asset for assessing fire department structure, leadership, and preparedness.
