Mayor Darby also discusses emerging international connections, including recent engagement with representatives from the Netherlands and Rotterdam. For a city named Nederland, those relationships create both symbolic and practical opportunities.

Candidates should also understand that the City Manager position includes a residency requirement. The person selected must live within the city limits of Nederland, and the Mayor notes that some addresses using Nederland are not actually inside the city limits.
