Position Overview
LEADERSHIP & INFLUENCE:
As City Administrator, you will partner closely with the Mayor and City Council to translate policy into action while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization. This role provides the opportunity to lead municipal services, guide financial stewardship, supervise staff, advance capital improvements, and build productive relationships with residents, regional partners, and community stakeholders. Success will require a collaborative leader who communicates effectively, exercises sound judgment, and balances strategic priorities with responsive customer service.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The City of Morgan's Point is seeking an experienced, collaborative municipal leader who excels in organizational leadership, financial stewardship, and relationship building. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance to the Mayor and City Council while overseeing municipal operations, budgeting, personnel administration, capital projects, procurement, and community engagement. This individual should possess sound judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to balance day-to-day operational responsibilities with long-term planning in a close-knit community where leadership is highly visible.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Political Science, or a related field.
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible municipal government leadership experience, including experience supervising multiple functional areas or departments.
Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial management, personnel administration, and municipal operations.
Proven ability to build productive relationships with elected officials, employees, residents, and external stakeholders.
Valid Texas driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience serving as a City Administrator, City Manager, Assistant City Manager, or Deputy City Manager.
Experience with capital improvement planning, grant administration, procurement, contract negotiations, and economic development partnerships.
ICMA Credentialed Manager (ICMA-CM), Certified Public Manager (CPM), or other relevant professional certification.
